Mifflin-St Jeor

Mifflin-St Jeor is an equation used to estimate basal metabolic rate from sex, age, weight and height.

Also known as: Mifflin-St Jeor equation

The equation estimates resting expenditure and is often the base for BMR and macro calculators. An activity factor then turns that estimate into an approximate daily expenditure.

Like any population formula, it does not fit every person perfectly. The value needs adjusting based on real-world weight response, hunger, performance and routine.
