TDEE (total daily energy expenditure)

TDEE is the total calories you burn per day, adding physical activity and exercise to resting expenditure.

Also known as: Total daily energy expenditure

It is the reference for setting daily calories: eating near TDEE maintains weight, below it creates a deficit and above it creates a surplus.

It is an estimate, not an exact number — real expenditure varies with body composition, sleep and daily activity, so it pays to adjust based on how your weight actually responds over the weeks.
