BMI (body mass index)
BMI relates weight to height for population-level screening, but it cannot separate muscle, fat or body-fat distribution.
Also known as: Body mass index
BMI is calculated by dividing weight by height squared. It is simple and useful for screening in adults, but it does not describe individual body composition.
For people who lift, BMI can rise together with lean mass. That is why it should be read alongside measurements, performance, history and context — never as an isolated diagnosis.
