Lean mass

Lean mass is the body weight that is not fat, including muscle, water, bones, organs and other tissues.

Also known as: Lean body mass

In everyday gym language, lean mass often becomes a synonym for muscle, but technically it includes everything that is not fat mass.

For tracking training, it helps interpret weight changes: gaining strength and muscle measurements can move the scale even without a proportional increase in fat.
