RFM (relative fat mass)
RFM estimates body fat percentage using the ratio between height and waist, adjusted by sex.
Also known as: Relative fat mass
The formula was proposed as a practical alternative to BMI because it includes the waist, a measurement linked to body-fat distribution. It requires no calipers, bioimpedance or imaging.
Even so, RFM remains an estimate. The quality of the waist measurement, body type and individual context can change the interpretation considerably.
