Delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS)
DOMS is the muscle soreness that appears hours or days after a workout, especially after new or more eccentric stimuli.
Also known as: DOMS · Post-workout soreness
It usually shows up between 24 and 72 hours after the session, but it is not mandatory proof of a good workout. Too much soreness can signal an exaggerated dose, too much exercise novelty or insufficient recovery.
What matters most is whether soreness interferes with performance, technique or frequency. Logging sessions and perceived effort in SelfShapeAI helps separate productive stimulus from fatigue that starts compromising the next weeks.
