Mesocycle
A mesocycle is a training block of a few weeks (usually 3 to 6) with a specific focus, such as accumulating volume or intensity.
Also known as: Training block
It is the middle level of periodization: several weeks (microcycles) form a mesocycle, and several mesocycles form the macrocycle, the whole season. Each mesocycle usually progresses the stimulus and ends with a deload before the next block.
Thinking in mesocycles avoids training the same way forever and helps plan when to raise volume, when to prioritize load and when to recover. In SelfShapeAI this appears as plan phases: the app organizes training into blocks with a defined focus and adjusts progression as you log sessions.
