Eccentric emphasis

Eccentric emphasis means giving more control, time or load to the lowering phase of a movement.

Also known as: Accentuated eccentric

The eccentric phase tolerates high tension and can improve technical control and time under tension. That does not mean every rep needs to be very slow; moderate, well-controlled cadences are usually enough for most training.

The technique is useful when it improves execution and movement intent, not when it only increases soreness. SelfShapeAI helps apply this adjustment within the plan and track whether it improves performance or merely accumulates fatigue.
