Rest-pause
Rest-pause extends a set near failure with very short pauses (10 to 20 seconds), continuing with the same load for a few more reps.
Also known as: Rest-pause training
Instead of ending the set, you rest a few seconds and squeeze out more repetitions, accumulating more work with the same load in less time. Studies show strength and hypertrophy adaptations similar to traditional sets when volume is matched, with a time-efficiency advantage.
It is an intensity technique that creates substantial fatigue, so it works better used selectively, not on every exercise. SelfShapeAI can program rest-pause when it serves your goal and track load and volume so you do not sacrifice recovery.
