Pre-exhaustion

Pre-exhaustion is doing an isolation exercise before a compound to pre-fatigue the target muscle.

Also known as: Pre-fatigue

A common example is doing flyes before bench press. The technique can increase local awareness, but it can also reduce load and performance in the main lift, so it needs a clear reason.

It works best as an occasional resource, not a fixed rule. SelfShapeAI helps fit techniques like this into a coherent plan, without trading progression and quality volume for unread accumulated fatigue.
